This course is for undergraduate who wants to understand and apply person-centered approach in holistic care. It will be particularly relevant for those with some existing knowledge healthcare, especially students, researchers and healthcare professionals.

課程內容說明

This MOOC will allow participants to gain a comprehensive understanding about principles of person-centered approach and holistic healthcare through the knowledge learning, skills practice and holistic reasoning.

Holistic healthcare is defined as full patient care with the consideration of patient’s need physically, emotionally, social-economically and spiritually while they respond to the illness and the effect of the illness on the ability to meet their self-care needs. Holistic healthcare indicates the fulfilment of multi-professional coordinated whole-person care. Therefore, medical education for undergraduate level, which offers the up-to-date holistic and person-centered approach, might enhance patient satisfaction and quality of life in healthcare.

There will be three modules in this course: 1) Engaging: a fully functioning person and person-centered therapeutic relationship; 2) Enhancing: personalized care and resilience matters; 3) Empowering: post-traumatic growth. It aims to develop the learners’ knowledge and competence of holistic care delivery through the online courses. The learners would be expected to fully participate in the course and interact with the peers. 
課程特色

This course is done as a part of collaboration between Taipei Medical University (TMU) and the hospital (TMUH) and will cover all the topics. What would a person-centered holistic care look like? This course will explore knowledge and practices for utilizing person-centered therapeutic relationship skill to interact with patients and their families. We focus in this initiative on impact of holistic reasoning and empathic responses performed by the health professionals. It will also cover person-centered translational research and applications exploring the long-term impact of medical education in demonstrating humanities, including studies looking at impact on the patients’ self-growth in illness and the enhancement of quality of life of patients and their families.
